Welcome back to The Smoking Lobster, building on its success of last year, and fresh for 2024, appealing to Salcombe as a top foodie destination with a chilled-out attitude.

Bringing food with a funky vibe from the popular local chef, Jamie Rogers, of fine dining (and Come Dine With Me – The Professionals) fame. If it lives in the sea, we’ll be preparing it, cooking it, and presenting it to you on a plate with all the zingy flavours that will make your tastebuds sing. We’re sticking to the casual dining of our pop-up seafood hangout that was so popular last summer in the glorious setting of Cliff House in Salcombe, where the food matches the stunningly gorgeous views across the harbour to East Portlemouth’s golden sandy beaches.

For three long, (hopefully) hot summer months we’re offering all-day dining, plus seafood barbecues and grab and go takeaway treats. This year we’re bringing you a little extra with a disco dancefloor to end the evening on after you’ve filled up on fab food.

The name of the restaurant comes from our signature dish of smoked lobster accompanied by our dirty millionaire fries – the most luxurious, decadent fries you could wish to drool over – triple cooked with black garlic emulsion, aged Parmesan, and truffle shavings. Sitting alongside this offering on our menu, and using Jamie’s knowledge of the best local seafood, will be crab, scallops, squid, mussels, and any fish that’s brought in on the local day boats.

Also, when we say casual, we mean you can rock up in your flip-flops, still sandy and sun-kissed from the beach, or you can dress up to the nines – however you’re dressed you can sit out on the deck in front of Cliff House with the best views in Salcombe stretching out before you.

Watch the sun set, with a glass of something chilled in hand, and prepare to be fêted with mouth-watering seafood, cocktails, and chilled vibes of the musical sort. Giving you the summer memories that last a lifetime.

Captain's Table

Do you want an ‘ultra’ dining experience that delivers just that little bit extra?

Then you need to book The Captain’s Table at the Smoking Lobster.

With only 2 tables available per service, if you wish to come and enjoy a top evening’s dining whilst luxuriating in the ambience provided between the crisp white linen and the finest uninterrupted views of Salcombe Estuary, then you and nine others in your party will have an experience that you’ll never forget.

From the canapés to begin your feast to the dessert to end it, you’ll be presented with the finest ingredients from scallops to Iberico jamon, crab and caviar, truffles, Champagne, asparagus, beef, and all will have been given the Jamie Rogers treatment, meaning you’ll have your eyes widening with delight at the flavour combinations.

At £180 per person, it’s definitely a luxury gastronomic occasion, but one you won’t regret.
